Salvage in Modern Green Homes
Use of locally salvaged materials in new home construction is a great way to recycle items with more useable life while adding to the unique story of a home.
Our 2012 Grand Hacienda winner is filled with many recycled materials. Antique hand-hewn sabino wood beams and mesquite doors lend their old-world charm and craftsmanship. The master bathroom cabinet was once a part of a home on Canyon Road. The steel railing around a light well formerly functioned as a fence around a chicken coop. Metal scraps became a handrail and planters. Three water catchment tanks were first used to transport massage oil.
We are proud to manage our jobsites with minimal waste. When we remodel a home, we remove appropriate materials (cabinetry, fixtures, some tile) with care so that they may be repurposed. When we can not find a use for these items directly, our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts them and helps keep them out of the landfill.
