An elegant work of art, this sculptural home, designed and built by Green Star Builders, is integrated into the surrounding hillside, organically connecting it to nature. Throughout, design elements connect interior and exterior living spaces. There is a garden window inlaid into a large stone and inside/outside fireplaces. Although a liberal use of steel and glass leans the home in a contemporary direction, the finishes demonstrate a reverence for old world materials, such as hand-painted tiles and antiques patinas.
Nearly everything in this residence was crafted by hand, such as the incredible curved steel beams on the dramatic sunset-facing portal, the shelving inspired by plaster work in a Provencal home, and the fountain created from a local boulder. Although grand, the home has many intimate spaces that invite respite with a good book. The two stylistically different studios and playful use of color are very personal expressions of this custom home.
