This one-of-a-kind home mixes ranch house chic with rustic Southwest style. Designed by Stephen Beili, classic exposed framing gives this house gravitas. The living room features a vaulted ceiling with stacked beams and purlins and wooden tongue & groove ceiling. In that room, the hand-built fireplace, chiseled stone-by-stone by our master stone mason, anchors the living room. The kitchen has exposed fitted timber truss joinery in the scissor style with rough sawn wooden decking. The kitchen range hood is built like an antique steam locomotive, appropriate for the home’s location near the Lamy railroad tracks. This patinaed steel canopy with rugged strapping and rivet details is entirely custom, fabricated by Green Star. The dining room inspires awe with a dramatic geometric cross gable ceiling.

Antique doors are a part of the language of this home, as is the custom-made iron hardware. The entry gate is a classic Green Star Builders type of detail: a beautifully aged salvaged material formed into something functional. Exposed headers show authentic hand-adzed markings.

The Southwest element is evident in the entry zaguan, clay plaster walls and nichos, and the Mexican spindle-style built-in cabinets.
